The Hope Valley is a mecca for outdoor pursuits and Sheffield DA took full advantage of the Bamford Meet with a couple of groups heading out; some on foot and others choosing pedal power. The walkers embarked on an 8 mile expedition across Shatton Moor above the village of Bradwell. The adventurers eventually reached the TV transmitter mast and were rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding hills and valleys before descending back to Bradwell for well-deserved refreshment at a local hostelry (and the obligatory ice cream). The cyclists took a different direction for their impressive 16 mile circuit of the rather depleted yet still beautiful Derwent and Howden reservoirs.
Returning to site everyone convened for the Macmillan coffee afternoon, organised by Sylvia and Bryan and with thanks also to Liz, Shirley, Jean and Jane for baking and support: resulting in a fantastic £122 raised for the charity.
Sunday saw a less energetic but equally enjoyable family walk to Bamford from the site at Thornhill.
