Sheffield DA is delighted to add a new meet site to our roster in 2023, Dukes Piece, nr Youlgreave in the Peak District National Park. Dukes Piece is part of The Camping and Caravanning Club CS network with one reviewer calling the site "A little gem".
The site sits in open countryside to the east of the pretty traditional Derbyshire village of Youlgreave, which is a popular tourist destination, not only for the appeal of it's pubs but also it is superb walking country, with the village enjoying an enviable position between two classic Derbyshire Dales, connected by the Limestone Way which passes through both Bradford Dale and the beautiful Lathkill Dale; the location of two Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI): indeed the Limestone Way passes within a few meters of the Sheffield DA Dukes Piece meet site.
To reach Dukes Piece, it is recommended that members follow the directions in Out and About, which start at Newhaven, where the A515 and the A5012 Via Gellia roads converge. Members joining us from the A6 should carefully consider route options. Approaching through the village of Youlgreave is not recommended for larger units because the roads are narrow with parked vehicles, so from A6 you might consider continuing to Cromford crossroads and taking A5012 Via Gellia to join the recommended directions immediately prior to the A515 Newhaven junction.
Directions (as published in Out & About)
Leave A515 midway btwn jct with B5054 & B5055 North East on unclassified rd, sp Middleton/Youlgreave, ignore R fork for Middleton & crossroads, then fork R for Youlgreave, site 400 yards on L.
