As we draw a close to the camping season for 2023 we can look ahead to the new season with the release of Sheffield DA 2024 fixtures, with a mix of your favourites and mixing things up with a new THS and three new sites, with a couple more still on the planning table.
The season will commence 15th - 17th March, with the opener is still to be confirmed, so save the date and look out for updates when our sites secretary has secured the site he is aiming for.
Cawthorne, 22nd - 24th March is the first of our new sites, ideal for a visit to the award winnning visitor attraction, Cannon Hall Farm, location for the highly successful Channel 5 series featuring farming brothers Rob and Dave Nicholson, along with celebrity presenters, Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson. The visitor attraction is a fantastic day out, with the farm, farm shop, adventure playground and lots of special events thoughout the year. This should be an excellent addition early in the season.
Easter takes us once again to the picturesque North York Moors village of Hutton-Le-Hole. A packed programme of family Easter fun awaits.
Back closer to home, Ashover 12th - 14th April will once again be Sheffield DA AGM, so please keep this date in your diary and support your DA as we reprise the past year and elect the committee to take us forward.
Next stop on 19th - 21st April is Parwich, which is once again timed to coincide with the village St. George's Day parade. Last year our members enjoyed joiing the village celebrations and asked for a repeat in 2024, so here it is!
After a gap of a quite a few years, 26th - 28th April takes the DA back to Crich, Mooredge Farm, which is ideally located for a (vertical) stroll to Crich Stand for magnificent views of the surrounding Derbyshire countryside and a pause for contemplation at this Regimental Memorial, dedicated to the fallen of the Mercian Regiment. Also on the doorstep is a day of nostalgia at the Tramway Village. Just along the A6 towards Belper, another interesting visitor attraction is well worth considering; the Great British Car Journey will bring back memories of classic British motoring.
May Day renews our long-standing visit to the wonderful village of Osmaston, where there will be the usual packed programme of family events and entertainment.
Glutton Bridge is back next year, nestling between the imposing Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill, this isolated beauty is one of the iconic views in the Peak District. If you have not been to this site then 10th - 12th May is a must for your 2024 plans.
New for '24 is Jubilee Field at Elton, high in the National Park, high above Matlock and Bakewell, close to the spectacular rock formation, Robin Hood's Stride.
Top row: left to right: Jubilee Field, Elton; Parwich; Hutton Le Hole.
Bottom row: Osmaston Polo Ground; Glutton Bridge; Tansley, Sunnyside Farm.
For Spring Bank holiday 2024, Sheffield DA offers a choice of two excellent options: Hutton Le Hole will run for one week, 24th May - 2nd June, whilst Lees Meadow Farm will be a two week THS, 24th May to 9th June. The last weekend of the Lees Farm Meadow THS is earmarked for our Cheese and Wine Tasting weekend, 7th - 9th June.
After visits to familiar territory of Parsely Hay (14th - 16th June) and Tansley (21st - 23rd June), and following the Yorkshire Region Meet (28th - 30th June), our next stop is Darley Dale for the first of our summer THS (5th - 22nd July). The exciting news is that the last weekend of the Darley Dale THS will be Sheffield DA's 90th birthday weekend, with a huge programme of entertainment and family events planned. Note the dates (19th - 22nd July), the planning is in full swing, so watch out for more details.
Bishopthorpe 2024 is once again a 5-day meet and is timed to coincide with the John Smith's Cup meeting at York Races, so if yo ufancy a day at the races or a visit to the array of visitor attractions in historic York, the dates to note are 11th - 16th June.
The second of our summer THS takes us back to Criccieth, known as the "Pearl of Wales", where visitors can enjoy mountains, coast and castles, all within a short drive or via local bus services. Perfect for a great value memorable family holiday, this THS is scheduled for school holidays, from 25th July to 11th August.
Late Summer Bank Holiday brings us back to Hognaston, perfect for Carsington Water. This needs no introduction, having been a Sheffield DA favourite for many years.
Moving into Autumn see us at regular haunts of Shepley, Kniveton, a second visit to Ashover for the CCY mock test weekend, Thorpe, Beckingham and Ashford. After a stop at Hayes Farm, Newstead, we round off the season with the bonfire and halloween meet at Torksey.
There are three weekends that are yet to be confirmed, so look out for updates. Click the button below and follow the instructions to view or download the 2024 fixtures or use the 'Add to Calendar' button to download to your preferred digital calendar.
